Special Olympics South Dakota Thanks Darryl Nordquist for Nearly Two Decades of Service

Special Olympics South Dakota (SOSD) extends its gratitude to Darryl Nordquist, who has retired from the organization after nearly two decades of dedication to advancing inclusion. Nordquist’s last day was December 1.

Under his leadership, he elevated the organization by expanding sports and services throughout the state. He accomplished many initiatives, including fundraising and building the Unify Center and program offices that SOSD staff occupy today. Through his passion, determination, and commitment to what SOSD stands for, he leaves a lasting impact on athletes, families, volunteers, and communities across the state.

“We enjoy the fruits of Darryl’s leadership each day and we look forward to the new energy that Nick brings to Special Olympics South Dakota going forward,” says Monica Burgess, Chair of SOSD Board of Directors.

We look forward to the future with immense gratitude for Darryl’s leadership and excitement of what is to come with our new President/CEO, Nick Moen.
