The Mission of Special Olympics South Dakota is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children (8 years and older) and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

SPORTS

We offer 12 Olympic-type sports competitions & trainings year-round in both traditional competitions and Unified competitions.

SCHOOLS

Our Unified Champion Schools empower students to make their schools more inclusive and welcoming to people of all abilities.

LEADERSHIP

The Athlete Leadership Council creates opportunities to develop and demonstrate leadership skills offering tools to use both on and off the court.

HEALTH

Healthy Athletes provides free health screenings during our State Summer Games competition. There are eight different screenings that take place.
